Addition: Redirect client template files to Domino server to avoid locked template errors:

Hope this helps you avoid problems with locked files during large deployments, when many users are running the Notes client configuration process at the same time (on the same Citrix blade server):

9) Redirect client template files to Domino server to avoid locked template errors:

When a Notes client goes through the configuration process (the first time you launch Notes after set-up), it builds several local databases (bookmark.nsf, names.nsf etc.) in the user's data folder. To do this it reads the design templates located in the 'Shared' folder on the Citrix blade server (e.g. "C:\ProgramData\Lotus\Notes\Data\Shared") However, while a client is setting up, it locks the associated .NTF files for read, even if the user only has read permission on the files - If other users on the same Citrix blade server enter the Notes client set-up just after, they will receive errors as their client cannot access the .NTFs.

To avoid this, you can locate the .NTF files on a Domino server and put specially constructed replacements on the blade server:

1. Ensure that the "-Default-" ACL entry for the .NTFs on the server has Read access, with the "Replicate or copy documents" attribute.

2. Replace the .NTF files on the blade server with text files (of the same file name), that have a single line in the following format (without quotes):

"<servername>!!<relative path on the server to .NTF file>"

e.g. for pernames.ntf: "Goofy/Disney/US!!R8-5-3Pernames-Citrix.ntf"

We found that the following 5 x .NTFs needed to be redirected:

autosave.ntf
bookmark.ntf
feedcontent.ntf
headline.ntf
pernames.ntf

Please note that this is problematic for a multi language environment where you need different lauguage .NTFs - good luck with that ;-)
